A year ago we started with the idea of developing our own hydroponics business in Curacao.
During the start of the COVID-pandemic, vegetables were hard to find on the island. And when you had found some the price was sky high.
Almost all vegetables and fruits are imported on the island. And because of the lockdown this was very difficult at that time. So of course the price went higher and higher.
That's when we saw that this idea we had, would be a great thing for the island of Curacao.
Why import if we can grow it ourselves.
A year of hard work and preparation started.
With the help of an engineer from Holland we build our own hydroponics system.
And started to explore which seeds would be the best.
The last months we grew a lot of vegetables in our own greenery, like crops, endive, peppers and also microgreens like basil, mint.
And after some trial and error and a lot of hard work , two months ago we had our first small harvest of crops that meets our conditions. A big , tasty, healthy ( free of pesticide) and crispy crop.
These first ones went to our family and friends and we got only great reviews.
In the meantime we were talking with the people of freight farms to accomplish our big dream.
Which is our own container for "vertical-in-grow" hydroponics.
And now we are working on the last steps of this exciting process.
