Move Farms, Not Food

A lot has happened since my last post not giving me any chance to keep you updated, but see it as a process, a steady process aiming for its goal. High-quality local produce 365 days a year in a controlled environment. Let me go back into the timeline where we expected some delay in shipping.

This delay ended up much further than we could ever imagine. Searching for shipping in a global transport crisis wasn't easy. It took months before just one option could ship the Greenery with its unique dimensions to our beautiful island, Curaçao. Very grateful for DAMA B.V.'s excellent job. Overwhelmingly proud to see the only white-green colored container navigating on the “Perito Moreno” through the Anna Bay, reaching its final destination.

But it was not really near its final destination. It had to pass an understaffed customs department, causing a long tax exoneration process of 4 weeks before it was settled. Following by another 2 weeks before port services could release the farm.

Finally, the greenery came home on Friday, June 17th, 2022. A 9-month process where we learned a lot about how to get things done. It was a big day.

The next step, a two-day test, powering up the farm, not sure how much the greenery would draw. A big 400 KVA generator did its job flawlessly.

It was impressive, but not to its perfection. Not all 32 outputs reacted as we expected, nevertheless we see some great potential when Freight Farms support will send us parts to swap, working to a fully functional farm.

In the meantime, we received a great gesture from Bejo Zaden, a three months supply of Batavia, Butterhead and Lollo Rosa seeds, a special thanks to Kevin.

Right now we are in search of financial support to power up this revelation, sustainably. A 55 solar panel plan in combination with an extensive battery pack will do to stay completely off-grid.

We’ll keep you updated.
